This quick observation to enlighten your day is brought to you by Steve.
Local news channels are a little bit troubling to begin with. They typically only show the sensationalistic stories and do their best to make you scared to leave your house. The teasers they use to keep you tuned in, however, are the worst. They usually go something like this: “Join us after the break to learn the secret safety tip that might just save your life. Miss it and the consequences could be catastrophic.” This will typically be followed up by a commercial that says, “Channel 18 News. We’re here for you. We’re here for your family. We’re here for the community.” Well, I would contend that if you were really “here for us” then you wouldn’t make us wait until after the break to give us the life-altering news that could save the lives of me and my family. Why string us along until 6:29, when you should be telling us at 6:01? According to you, that 28 minutes could be crucial.
